Perched on Fremantle’s Harbour waterfront, the stunning transformation of the B Shed into a modern ferry terminal illustrates the very best in adaptation, conservation and clever design. The 85-year-old cargo shed development is part of the larger plan and vision to revitalise the west end of Victoria Quay.
By providing much needed facilities for ferry operators and passengers, this iconic facility opened up the heritage-listed building for the benefit and enjoyment of the WA community whilst maintaining the integrity of the building and interpreting aspects of the port’s rich heritage. By use of self-contained ticketing pods, modern café, and contemporary interpretation panels, using modern materials and colours the old and the new are clearly distinguish.
