The nature playground positioned in the heart of the Junior campus at the JSRACS Beechboro School is designed for exercise, interaction and communal play activities for the junior primary cohort. Laid out across 900m2 of land, the entire playground has been constructed using a pattern, reliant on the repetitive use of large rectangular timber sections giving it a striking, ordered architectural aesthetic.

Timber elements painted in bright primary colours are anchored in geometric form across the entire ground plane to promote play by way of stepping off and onto a series of timber balancing beams. The main structure been designed to draw children up from the ground plane via climbing rocks and elevated rising platforms into an array of play tunnels and tubular suspended climbing nets.

The use of the playground is the highlight of the day for most children at the school, providing an enthralling interactive physical experience and a welcome respite from the academic curriculum.
