Arguably one of the NTs first modernist homes, positioned on a cliff face overlooking the turquoise blue waters of Darwin harbor. The architecture combines elements of minimalism and modernism into a unique new tropical style designed to withstand the harsh environmental conditions whist still paying homage to the traditional typology of “elevated” homes in the area.

The plan, designed as a cruciform arrangement of one deep rooms is encompassed within a series of cantilevered terraces shielded by operable sliding louvres doors which can be configured to take advantage of the prevailing weather conditions. The Interior space reflects the emphasis of the client brief for a brutalist style reliant on simple materials such as off form concrete, travertine flooring and oak cabinetry.
